Entertainment Programming Director

Lemont, IL     Full Time

We are looking for an ambitious and growth-hungry professional to serve as the director of our entertainment programming at Lemont Quarries Adventure Park. This position reports to the General Manager of the park. The Entertainment Director will be responsible for the success of programming and the overall operational efficiency and profitability of the department.  The successful candidate is someone who is steadfastly committed to working with teammates and third-party partners to deliver memorable experiences for guests of all ages and abilities.

The director will work with the General Manager to establish income and expense forecasts for events and then execute, drive, and monitor their success. Specifically, they will be responsible for creating and executing quality programming across our music festivals, film series, group activities programming, adventure dining, parties/special events, and food & beverage services, while helping to devise new offerings. 

This person will be required to recruit and work with part-time and contract employees to develop all programming, manage logistics, sell, staff, organize, and run events. As such, this role requires the director to supervises project teams including staff, consultants, and volunteers and establish budgets and timelines for event programming. 

This isn’t an easy job, but it will be fun!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing and implementing programming across each P&L category for the entertainment division of the park (music, f&b, films, parties & events, etc.)

  • Work with third parties to source externally managed revenue-producing programming

  • Creating, monitoring & modifying the park’s entertainment schedule to include activities, music, shows, and the like. Significant front-of-house time is expected to monitor guest traffic, habits & patterns in order to continually maximize revenue & guest experience

  • Developing comprehensive schedules for programming throughout the year to take advantage of seasonal opportunities for special events, exhibits, etc.

  • Bearing responsibility for hitting entertainment programming revenue objectives based on a tight focus on guest flow

  • Working with the marketing team to improve targeted campaigns to generate lead flow and traffic to the park

  • Managing relationships with business partners, vendors, and consultants to successfully execute on entertainment programming initiatives

  • Coordinating with the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure proper management of F&B supply and service to the park 

  • Helping to recruit, train, and manage part-time and full-time staff members via periodic evaluations and performance appraisals

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

 

  • At least 5 years of event production and management experience

  • Experience working with clients and sales teams, creative teams, production companies and a variety of vendors

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills

  • Acute attention to detail and the ability to run multiple projects in tandem

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • Positive, can-do attitude, creative problem solver and a team player 

  • Bachelor's degree required 

PHYSICAL AND SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

 

In this position, you must be available to work a full-time schedule with overtime and weekend hours as needed. You must be ready to work upwards of 50 or 60 hours per week during the peak season. 

Additionally: 

  • Because our park is located in a natural, outdoor, wooded location, candidates must be comfortable and willing to work in all seasonal outdoor weather conditions as operational and management duties may require

  • You must be comfortable and willing to climb as necessary

  • You need to be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds

  • If you don't already have them, you will need to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification
